The charming Paraty is one of the oldest colonial cities in Brazil.
Also known as the “Venezia Brasileira”, because it is at an average height of 5 meters above sea level and its streets are frequently flooded, what its neighbors say, is a great way to “wash” the city.
The historical center is considered National Historical Heritage due to the importance of its architectural ensemble. Along its cobbled streets, where automobile traffic is banned, churches and colonial houses are built mostly white and very well maintained, so when taking a leisurely walk in the center you can not avoid having the sensation that has fallen back centuries in time.
Bathed by two important rivers and their corresponding secondary tributaries, in the natural environment of Paraty is a great variety of waterfalls that form precious natural pools where you can enjoy a refreshing fresh water bath.
In the center of the city there are no good beaches but the bay of Paraty has about 50, many of which can only be reached by sea by boat. Precisely that inaccessibility has made these beaches the most beautiful because they are in an almost wild state, surrounded by thick vegetation, perfect for sailing.
Sailboats are located in Marina Do Farol, which offers a taxi-boat service from the marina to the city (5 minutes). This marina offers its guests all kinds of facilities (Showers, restaurant, wifi, etc.). )
You can not miss the local cachaça called Gabriela, the Brazilian aguardiente with a touch of clove, cinnamon and ginger.
Ihla Grande is known as the Brazilian Caribbean, famous for its Lopes Mendes beach, considered one of the most attractive on the Brazilian coast. Also note the beaches of Dois Rios, Aventureiro and Parnaioca in the atlántico side and Feiticeira, Saco do Céu, Blue Lagoon, Green Lagoon, Araçatiba, Ubatubinha, Abraozinho and Das Palmas, among others, on the continental side. Not everything is beach in the island, the mountain and the jungle of the Mata Atlántica type are also tourist attractions.
On the island there are no cars or motorized land transport, it is only allowed to walk or bike.
The largest tourist structure is in Vila do Abraão.
To stay in sailboat offers to know the island comfortably from the sea, visiting the different wonderful beaches without having to return to the village to spend the night, being able to anchor and sleep under the stars with all the comforts.
